RENO SWEENEY

A charismatic nightclub singer.  She is clever, funny, persuasive and extremely confident.   She is a classic 1930s fast-talking “dame”.  Strong singing and dancing required, including tap.  Good comedienne with strong comic timing.

Mid 20s up

BILLY CROCKER

A young businessman who is in love with Hope.  He is charismatic and charming.  Strong singing required and should be able to dance or move well.  Good comic timing and physical humor.

Baritenor B3-G4

 

MOONFACE MARTIN

A loveable gangster who is also loyal and willing to go the distance for a friend.  Requires a strong comic actor in the “vaudeville/burlesque” style who can sing and move well .

HOPE HARCOURT

A beautiful heiress with a strong sense of duty.   A classic “ingenue” role.  Strong singing, dancing and acting required.

Hope’s energetic, quirky, and good-natured aristocratic fiancé.  An upper-crust English fop.  English accent required, along with strong singing, the ability to move well and an offbeat comic presence.

A playful, independent, impulsive, and loveably clueless “dame” – a typical 20’s “gun moll” with a ‘Joisey’ accent.   Strong singing and dancing, including tap.

ELISHA WHITNEY

A successful Wall Street banker who is nearsighted and thinks he is always right.  Needs good comic timing.  Ability to move well is a plus.

Hope’s overbearing mother who is mainly concerned with money and social status.  Sings with ensemble only.

Two (2) recent Christian converts traveling onboard ship with a missionary.  Asian actors preferred with good comic timing.  They also sing and dance with the ensemble.

Six to eight (6-8) singing actors to play an assortment of roles (Rev. Dobson, Passengers, bartender, FBI agents, reporters, ship crew members, etc.).  Must sing well.  Movement/dance skills a plus.

  • You’ll play in an historic theater (but one that is fully air-conditioned and equipped with all modern amenities)
  • You have the chance to appear in a “big” musical but play it in an intimate, 110-seat house
  • We have the budget to do things right … no skimping here!
  • We have first-rate production values, with professionally-designed scenery & lighting and great costume plots
  • We use a 10-piece  orchestra of professional musicians
  • For those of you in NYC or beyond, we are only minutes from Manhattan, with easy transportation from Port Authority or the GWB bus station
  • We work hard, but the atmosphere is easy-going and collegial
